| As I grew up I had a variety of breeds, most were rescued, but they helped to form my life and love of all animals. Dalmatians have been a part of our household since 1967. When I was living in California, a woman in my neighborhood approached me with a litter of purebred Dalmatians puppies that she could no longer care for. I took the litter in and placed them all in loving homes. That started the ball rolling! My interest was peaked, so I began studying this breed. A bit later down the road, I was offered yet another litter from someone else, and this time I wanted to keep one. Again, I took the litter and placed them....all but one. My children and I now owned our first Dalmatian. As time went by, we met a gentleman who admired our new little man and suggested we take him to a local puppy match that was coming up. The man's name was Mr. Richard (Dickey) Souder, and he was a Dobie breeder and a judge of that Group. So off to the puppy match we went. Our little guy wowed us with a B.O.B. and Group 2 placement! I was now hooked on showing dogs. I soon met another Dalmatian owner and she became my mentor and friend. She then introduced me to Ms. Maria Johnson (Altamar Dalmatians) whose Dals were used by Disney artists to depict the animation and loving personality when making the original Disney movie "101 Dalmatians." They were also used by many of the professional photographers on the fashion runway. I still call her today for guidance, support and just to tap into her vast knowledge of the breed. That was some 35 years ago. I have been blessed with some lovely Dalmatians and met some really fantastic people. My kids (now 40 and 42) still have a Dal in their homes. My home is run by 2 Champion Dals. We don't breed often, but when we do we are dedicated to health, companionship and temperament. Our dogs live inside so it's important that they all get along with each other. It is for this reason that we felt it necessary to go to a solid foundation line and why we made the decision to purchase thru Ken and Eva Berg (Proctor Dalmatians).
